The cover is Caravaggio's painting of the Passion of St. Francis. It interprets the story in the artist's own vision. I find that amazing. This book mostly consists of Caravaggio's paintings with a few words of background information. That is quite enough for most purposes. You could write volumes of interpretations, explanations, and examinations of his work. But the paintings say most of that very well without the extra fluff. You can form your own opinions, some good, some bad. Therefore, I will stop here and just say look at the book. It is worth the time spent.Product details

High quality pics of his works with background on many and a brief history of his life. Provides pretty much everything you would want to know about this artist.
I have long been a fervent admirer of the Delphi Classic Editions with which I have spent countless hours; I finally bought an Ipad, in part wanting to see some of the Delphi Masters of Art series in color. WOW - fabulous reproductions with most interesting commentaries and always with additional biographical materials, etc. Delphi Classics now in the art world. Highest recommendations. Thank you to all the Delphi people.
